City Year South Africa
Lindiwe Sibiya was raised in a disadvantage community. After Matric, in 2005 Lindiwe Sibiya realized that she wanted to make a difference in her community and bring hope to other children. She wanted to show them that it didn’t matter where you come from but where you are going. In 2006 she joined City Year South Africa as a Service Leader. This opportunity gave her the opportunity to serve a community in Dube Soweto. After her year of service, she had an opportunity to reapply at City Year for a second year of service. In 2007 she got the chance to work with High School learners, implementing a Saturday programme that brought young people from different backgrounds, through leadership and service programmes. In 2008, she joined a national organization called WaterForAll.This programme brought disadvantaged and rural communities clean water using Solar and merry-go-round water pumps. In 2013 she came back to City Year South Africa as a Site Leader, the position she is currently assuming.
