Every year on March 8 we mark International Women’s Day. It is an important day to celebrate women’s achievements and to bring the disparity between genders to the forefront. This year’s International Women’s Day theme – Choose To Challenge – highlights the importance for everyone, not just women, to challenge gender norms, seek out and celebrate women’s achievements and help to collectively create a more inclusive world, because ‘from challenge, comes change’.

While women have made tangible strides in fighting for equality, there is still a long way to go. The Samuel Centre for Social Connectedness (SCSC) was created with the belief that everyone inherently as a right to belong, just by virtue of being born. As the fight for gender equality continues, through days like International Women’s Day, SCSC stand’s with those who have ever felt marginalized, othered or less than, and are actively seeking to level the playing field through awareness, our programs and our partnerships.

This year on March 8, consider lending your voice to a woman who would benefit from amplification. Celebrate women and their achievements, help raise awareness about women’s equality and the importance of gender parity and increase exposure about female-focused businesses and charities. Join SCSC as we embrace women today, and every day, to aspire for equality for all.
