This year, during National Volunteer Week, which runs from April 18-24, 2021, SCSC wants to highlight and recognize the incredible and important work of our volunteers who help run our Common Threads program. We are fortunate to have such passionate, caring and engaged volunteers!

SCSC’s Common Threads program was created to build a positive narrative around forced migration and welcome those seeking asylum and safety to Canada and the Montreal area in particular.

This year, our Welcome Sessions have shifted to virtual sessions over Zoom due to the COVID-19 pandemic, however they continue to foster connectedness and community with those recently arriving in Canada.

Welcome Session volunteers are an integral part of the Common Threads program, connecting with newcomers and sharing local resources, common bonds and stories. We want to take the time this National Volunteer Week to thank all of our Common Threads volunteers, highlighting the meaningful work they do, offering a warm welcome to newcomers and reducing the social isolation upon arrival.

Thank you volunteers! Make sure to take a look at our Facebook and Instagram pages this week to read about some of our amazing volunteers!
