“Supporting the Whole Student” Workshop

On October 15th and 16th in Montreal, the Samuel Centre for Social Connectedness will host a workshop on “Supporting the Whole Student”.

This will be a gathering of a diverse group of thought leaders and changemakers to address the challenges facing youth during post-secondary education.  We look forward to engaging in meaningful discussion and collaborating to foster social connectedness and active citizenship throughout post-secondary education. The entire workshop will be driven by youth and leaders in the fields of mental health, student engagement, empathy, social and emotional learning, Indigenous education, and more.

While this is a closed event, following this gathering, SCSC will share an outcomes report, which will compile the strategies, recommendations and ideas devised over the two days. This document will serve as a blueprint for any actor to take these learnings forward in their community.

BBC Radio 4 Survey Reveals the Loneliest Age Group

In a new survey conducted by the BBC, “results indicate that 16-24 year olds experience loneliness more often and more intensely than any other age group. 40% of respondents aged 16-24 reported feeling lonely often or very often, while only 29% of people aged 65-74 and 27% of people aged over 75 said the same.”

This topic will be a point of discussion at SCSC’s upcoming workshop, “Supporting the Whole Student”, taking place this October in Montreal, Quebec.
